Lesson 8
Christ's Word Is Our Authority In Religion
1. Jesus says, "... If ye continue in ____ __________, then
are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the
___________ shall make you free." (John 8:32).
2. "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship
him in ___________ and in ___________" (John 4:24).
3. Jesus prayed to God for His apostles, saying, , "Sanctify
them through thy truth: thy word is __________" (John 17:17).
Therefore, God's word is truth.
4. Jesus says, "For I have not spoken of myself; but the
Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment , what I should
______ , and what I should __________ " (John 12:49). Therefore,
.Jesus' teaching originated from God (John 12:48-50).
5. God speaks to men through ________ _________ (Heb.1:1-2).
6. The Father hath given ______ ________ into Jesus' hand (John
3:35).
7. Jesus has all authority "in __________ and in ___________"
(Mat.28:18).
8. Jesus has authority over ________ ___________ (John 17:2).
9. God has made Christ to be "the Head over all things to
the ___________" (Eph.1:22-23). So, He has all authority
over the church.
10. ___________'s word will judge us at the last day (John 12:48).
11. Jesus' words are "__________ and ____________" (John
6:63).
12. Since _________ has the word of eternal life (John 6:68),
we must listen to His word for spiritual life.
Conclusion: The above verses teach us that Jesus' word is our
only authority in religion. Jesus says, "He that rejecteth
me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the
word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last
day" (John 12:48).
