Lesson 15
We Cannot Change God's Word
1. Moses instructed the sons of Israel, saying, "Ye shall
not ______ unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye
________ ought from it, that ye may ______ the ____________ of
the Lord your God which I command you" (Deut. 4:2).
2. "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of
the prophecy of this book, If any man shall _____ unto these things,
God shall _____ unto him the ________ that are written in this
book: And if any man shall ______ ______ from the words of the
book of this prophecy, God shall _______ _______ his part out
of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things
which are written in this book" (Rev.22:18-19).
3. "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every
tree ot the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for
in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt ______ ______"
(Gen. 2:16-17). Satan perverted God's commandment by adding ONLY
ONE word to it. He said to Eve, "Ye shall _____ surely die"
(Gen. 3:4). By changing God's word, Satan became the father of
lies and author of sin (John 8:44).
4. Paul says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach
______ _______ gospel unto you than that we have preached unto
you, let him be ___________. As we said before, so say I now again,
If any man preach _____ _______ gospel unto you than that ye have
received, let him be ________" (Gal. 1:8-9). Therefore, if
any man adds to or takes away from God's word, he will be accursed
by God.
5. "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All _________
is given unto me in _________ and in __________" (Mat. 28:18).
Since He has all authority, we have no right to add to, nor to
subtract from His word.
6. "And (God) hath put all things under his feet, and gave
him to be the head _____ _____ ________ to the church" (Eph.
1:22). Since Christ is the Head of the church; He only has the
right to regulate laws for the church.
7. Jesus says, "... Man shall not live by bread alone, but
by ______ ______ that proceedeth out of the mouth of _______"
(Mat. 4:4) Since every word of God is inspired by Him, and is
designed to impart life; let us not change His word by adding
to it, nor subtracting from it.
Conclusion: Jesus' word is the standard of judgement at the last
day (John 12:48). We must respect His word, and must not change
it out of presumption.
