Lesson 13
The Good Confession Authorized By God
1. God confessed and revealed the fact that Jesus was the Son
of God, saying, "This (Jesus) is my ______ ______, in whom
I am well pleased" (Mat. 3:17; 17:5).
2. On two different occasions, Peter confessd before Jesus and
other apostles saying, "Thou (Jesus) are the ________, the
_____ of the living ______" (Mat. 16:16), "We believe
and are ______ that thou (Jesus) art that _______, the ______
of the ________ God" (John 6:69).
3. God has exalted Jesus to be the King of kings and the Lord
of lords, and has decreed that "at the name of Jesus every
knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and
things under the earth; and that every _______ should _________
that Jesus Christ is ______..." (Philppians 2:9-11; 1 Tim.
6:15).
4. One must first hear and believe the Gospel of Christ before
he could confess Jesus Christ to be the Son of God. "How
then shall they _____ on him (Jesus) in whom they have not ________?
and how shall they ________ in him of whom they have not ______?
and how shall they ______ without a preacher?" (Rom. 10:14).
5. The confession of Jesus Christ as the Son of God is essential
for man's salvation. Jesus says, "Whosoever therefore shall
________ me before men, him will I ________ also before my Father
which is in heaven. But whosoever shall ______ me before men,
him will I also ______ before my Father which is in heaven"
(Mat.10:32-33).
6. The purpose of baptism is for the remission of sins (Acts 22:16),
and the confession of Jesus is a prerequisite of baptism. "Then
Philip opened his mouth, ...and preached unto him (the Ethiopian
eunuch) Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a
certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth
_______ me to be _________? And Philip said, If thou _________
with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and _______,
I believe that Jesus Christ is the _____ of _____...; and he baptized
him" (Acts 8:35-38).
Conclusion: Men will be lost if they refuse to confess Jesus before
men (Mat.10:32-33). "Nevertheless among the chief rulers
also many ________ on him (Jesus); but because of the Pharisees
they did not ___________ him, lest they should be put out of the
synagogue: For they loved the praise of _______ more than the
praise of ______" (John 12:42-43).
